CORONAVIRUS (COVID 19) Outbreak Practice Changes

DO NOT ATTEND THE HEALTH CENTRE unless you have been asked to by us.

In response to Covid-19 outbreak we have now moved to a telephone triage system. We will now be dealing with things over the phone as much as possible. This will limit the spread of the virus and reduce our patients' exposure to it. In the event we need to see you face to face this will be organised during the phone call with the doctor.

If you are asked to attend, on arrival, please follow staff instructions carefully and hand wash on the WAY IN and OUT. We also ask that you are patient with our staff; they are doing their best in difficult circumstances.

Patients with mild symptoms or queries should visit www.nhsinform.scot/coronavirus

If you have more serious symptoms and are worried about Coronavirus contact 111 (24 hour service).

Please refer to the information further down the page for advice.

Prescriptions: We cannot issue prescriptions more than 2 weeks early, turnaround time is likely to take longer than 48 hours.  Please only order what you need and be patient with our staff, and Community Pharmacists.  They are doing the best they can in very difficult circumstances.  Thank you

TEXT MESSAGING SERVICE

Forms are now available for registering for the Text Messaging Service. These can be downloaded from the website (see section 2 on the right) or collected from the Surgery. Peterculter Pharmacy and Rowlands also have copies of the form.

Travel Clinic

If you are planning on holidaying abroad and think you may require travel immunisations please be aware that you need to contact the surgery for an appointment at the Travel Clinic at least 10 weeks before your date of travel.

The clinic is only held on a Wednesday morning.

Urinary Tract Infections in Women

If you call the practice for advice about symptoms of a possible urinary tract infection, you may be directed to one of the local pharmacies (Lloyds or Rowlands in Cults or Peterculter Pharmacy) who are offering an assessment/treatment service for uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTI's), in female patients only. You will be asked some very basic questions to establish that it is suitable for you to use this option. UTI's are not uncommon in women, are generally not serious, but are a significant nuisance, and usually respond well to appropriate treatment. In men, UTI's are much less common and are more likely to need consideration for further investigation.

Your Local Pharmacy

Your local pharmacists are well qualified to advise you on treatment for many minor ailments.

Coronavirus

The World Health Organisation has declared a public health emergency of international concern, and in response, the four UK Chief Medical Officers changed the UK risk level from low to moderate. This does not mean that the risk to individuals has increased, and it does not mean that any additional precautions are necessary. The increase to moderate is a reflection of the need for governments and the health service to escalate our planning and preparation in case of a more widespread outbreak.
